Step 1 Slide tapered end of 3mm flame retardant boot onto 3mm cable approx. 6". Starting with the small side of the crimp ring, slide the crimp ring onto the 3mm Cable.
Step 2 Place 3mm jacketed cable over Template. Mark 1.505 dimension, as per template. Strip.
Step 3 Trim Kevlar whiskers approx. 1/2".
Step 4 Place .9mm buffered tube over template. mark .74" dimension, as per template. Strip buffer tube off in front of 3mm cable with No Nik stripper.
Step 5 Now the 3mm jacketed cable will appear as shown in diagram.
Step 6 This step is very important. Clean stripped fiber with isopropyl alcohol soaked lint free cloth or a dry lint free cloth. To clean fold cloth in half over fiber and gently squeeze on the fiber and pull it through the cloth. This will clean the fiber of debris. Set aside carefully.

Step 8 Cleave fiber on two sides. Pull straight up. Carefully dispose of cleaved fiber.
Step 9 Place PVP rubber mat over PVP lapping plate and line with 15, 5, 1, &.3 micron lapping film.
Step 10 Add 3 drops of water to each lapping film. Place connector into ST* polishing puck.
Note for Steps 11 thru 14: Be sure to blow off connector and puck after each lapping sequence to prevent contamination scratching of core.
Step 11 Push down on the spring 1/2 way and do 10 figure 8's, using light even pressure, with 15 micron lapping film.
Step 12 Push down on the spring 1/2 way and do 14 figure 8's, using light even pressure, with 5 micron lapping film.
Step 13 Push down on the spring with 100% pressure and do 10-15 figure 8's using 1 micron lapping film.
Step 14 Push down on the spring with 100% pressure and do 10-15 figure 8's using .3 micron lapping film.
Step 15 Then insert ferrule straight up into 100x Inspection Microscope and inspect fiber core. Click on links below for acceptable and unacceptable polishing outcomes.
